✨ The Simpets Genetics Guide
Every pet now has permanent, species-independent genetics. These traits work on every Simpet without requiring a separate fitted marking image, so even two completely different species can pass their genes to a baby.
How inheritance works
Each trait has two alleles: a baby receives one at random from each parent. The genes are stored permanently with that pet and can be passed through every future generation.
| Trait | Inheritance | Rarity | Visible appearance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starlight | Dominant | Uncommon | Silver-white celestial glow |
| Gilded | Dominant | Rare | Warm golden radiance |
| Emberheart | Dominant | Very Rare | Ember-red and orange aura |
| Frostkissed | Recessive | Rare | Icy blue crystalline glow |
| Moonshadow | Recessive | Very Rare | Midnight-violet aura |
| Prismatic | Recessive | Legendary | Rainbow-edged shimmer |
Founders, carriers and mutations
Existing and newly adopted founder pets receive a permanent gene set the first time the system encounters them. Rare alleles are uncommon, and the most spectacular recessive traits may travel silently through several generations before two carriers produce a visible baby.
Breeding also allows an exceptionally tiny mutation chance. A mutation creates a new active allele in a bloodline; it is permanent and inheritable.
Cross-species breeding
Any two eligible adult pets may breed. The baby inherits the complete visual species and base of one parent, chosen randomly, but receives one allele per trait from both parents. This keeps every baby image clean while still producing deep pedigrees and rare genetic goals.
Privacy and strategy
Your private pet page displays visible traits and hidden carriers. Public profiles show visible effects only. Two pets that look ordinary may therefore produce something extraordinary when both carry the same recessive allele.
