Frequently Asked Questions
This page answers the most common questions. The linked guides explain each system in more detail; use the menu to find the feature pages.
Joining and getting started
Who made the pet art?
Many Simpets designs use digital AI-assisted artwork made with TESS AI. We disclose this so you can make an informed choice about playing here.
What age is Simpets for?
You must be at least 13 to join. Keep profiles and contributions suitable for a PG audience. If you see content that crosses that line, please message an administrator. Keep custom profile content clean and friendly.
What should I do first?
- Read the Site Guide and the site rules.
- Adopt a starter pet, give it a name, and choose its gender.
- Open its profile and learn where its growth, care, family, and customization controls are.
- Visit Inventory to see your starter items, then explore the Play and Buy menus.
What is the goal of the game?
Collect pets, build interesting families, discover striking bases and genetics, care for your pets, and take part in the games and activities. Special or event bases may appear in the available Base Swappers; announcements explain when limited selections are open. Pet values are not fixed by the site—rarity, appearance, family history, and what members are willing to pay all matter.
How do I adopt a pet?
Choose Adopt from the menu, select an available pet, enter its name, choose Male or Female, and submit. Adoption prices vary; the page shows the current price and your Simbucks balance before you confirm.
Currency, levels, and growth
What are Simbucks, and how can I earn them?
Simbucks (SB) are the site currency. Current earning options include Boost for Bucks, quests and adventures, battles or sparring, selling pets, and some farm activities. The amount and eligibility depend on the feature; its page shows the current rules.
What do pet levels look like?
For the regular Simpets and Bat lines, Level 1 is displayed as an Egg, Level 2 as a Baby, and Level 3 as an Adult. Realistics and Ittermat lines use their own images and begin as babies rather than Eggs.
How long does a pet take to grow?
On the current timed growth system, a Level 1 Egg advances to Level 2 after 3 days. It advances from Level 2 to adult Level 3 after 4 more days—7 days total. The scheduled maintenance job performs these changes. Egg-bearing Simpets and Bat pets receive an inbox hatch notice when they reach Level 2. Boosts or clicks are not required for this timed growth.
A Mature Potion can immediately raise a pet to Level 3; read the item description before using one.
Why has my Egg not hatched?
Check the pet’s level and adoption or birth date. If it has been more than 3 days and it is still Level 1, send an administrator the pet’s name or ID. Growth depends on the site’s scheduled maintenance job.
Breeding and genetics
How does breeding work?
Two different pets that you own can breed once both are Level 3 and under 20 pet years old. Any species can pair with another species on the current Simpets system, and parents do not need to be opposite genders. Each offspring independently receives the visual species and clean base of one randomly selected parent. Parent names are recorded for family history.
See the Breeding Guide for the complete rules and the Genetics Guide for inheritable traits.
Do the parents’ images blend together?
No. Current Simpets breeding uses no-merge inheritance: each offspring gets one parent’s complete species and base appearance. The two images are not blended. Different siblings may inherit different parents’ looks.
How old can a pet be and still breed?
One real week counts as one pet year. A pet must be younger than 20 pet years to breed. Both parents must also be adults at Level 3 or higher.
Profiles, items, and shops
Why are there several ways to view a pet?
The Dashboard and My Pets pages help you manage your collection. A private pet profile shows owner controls, while a public profile lets others view what is shared. The separate dressed-up view displays saved drag-and-drop dress-up layers. Backgrounds and foregrounds remain visible there; companions and buddies appear on the main pet profile views.
How do I equip items?
Open Inventory, find an item, and choose its Use action. Select the pet carefully and confirm if prompted. Toys, plushes, companions, and buddies use the available front-item slots. A pet can have one background and up to six foreground layers. Removing an item returns it to Inventory when the item’s Remove action is available.
How do I use Dress-Up?
Open the Dress Up page from the pet’s profile, drag available pieces onto the pet, adjust them, and press Save. These layers appear in the dressed-up profile view, not the normal main profile. They are decorative overlays; they are separate from permanent genetics.
How do I buy or sell pets and items?
Use the Buy menu to browse shops, check each item’s price, and purchase it into Inventory. Use Sell Pets or the Pet Market to list a pet if those options are available. Choose your own price and review it before applying. The site does not set a universal “fair price”; compare similar pets and remember listings may take time to sell.
Where do I find more activities?
The Play menu includes Pet Pop, Treat Tumble, Adventure, Pet Quest, Mars Quest, Boost for Bucks, Grand Sparring Arena, My Farm, and Battle. Their rules and rewards differ; see Games & Sparring and Farm Guide.
